The cup was a great success and mutcho fun, but I think there is always room for improvement. The following issues need to be addressed before the next cup run. Any suggestions about improving the tournament? make them here!
Fake Nicknames.
There were a few players who played under fake nicknames, one of the bw players seemed to use a new name every week, and another clans player changed his name in the final week. This imo is a bad thing. For the next tourney all players should be registered somewhere, maybe I'll make a thread on here for player registrations, everyone can then post their clan tag in the forum and only players with a registered forum name can play on match days. Also the forum would allow me to see an ip for each player, so there would be a way of working out who is who during the matches.
Random Maps.
The map draw was a bit similar, there were too many games played on the same maps. The list should be expanded to about 30 maps, also the rule should be; random maps drawn can only be used once per week, so if one clan is playing a match on 'rage' for example, no other team can draw rage in the random map draw.
Anti-Cheat.
There were a few games played with anticheat relaxed somewhat, this should be more strictly enforced. Apart from the Linux users everyone should be using anticheat.
Message Mode 1 usage.
There was a bit too much bitching at times from certain players, all chat needs to be restricted to teamtalk. Theres nothing wrong with smileys or the odd 'good shot' but bitching at the opposition should maybe get an instant mute 
Also certain players joined the server during other clans matches just to talk or spam a bind.. this sort of thing will get a kick next time round, and if the one hour ban overlaps a match for your clan then unlucky 
Chasecam Demos.
Would be nice if a neutral player would volenteer to be camera man for each game. I liked the way Ation recorded demos, would be happy to have regular peeps who record nice demos of the action.
More teams.
Would be nice to have a couple more clans involved, Jose how about slapping Dem into action Also USA clans would be invited to join (All games would still be played on quake.de match server).
An actual cup!
I was thinking of making a competition, for anyone who is good at gfx. Make a nice picture of a trophy with a gloom theme to it 
What else would improve the cup next time round? |
